The age limits for an olympic team are under 23 with three over-age players allowed. For many amateur teams that's going to kick a large hole in their team-list, especially the smaller teams who don't have a large pool of under 23 players to choose from. It's also a bad precedent to have an all Britain play-off for an international competition. It could quite easily be applied to the four UK associations by FIFA. One team represents Britain in every international competition decided by a play-off in the UK before any preliminary rounds. Not a good precedent to set. A nice idea but not a good one.
